Dr. Peter Kongstvedt is a leader in the international consulting firm of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y). Cap Gemini Ernst & Young is the new company born of the acquisition of all global consulting services of Ernst & Young LLP to the French technology consulting firm of Cap Gemini. CGE&Y has one of the largest health care consulting practices in the United States. Based in the firm's Washington, D.C. office, Dr. Kongstvedt serves as one of the key leaders of the managed care practice. His client work includes such activities as development of strategic direction and tactical planning, assessment of overall operational capabilities, creation of portfolios for operational improvements, restructuring of management, evaluation of product design, reimbursement strategies, and setting of future strategies for eCommerce in managed health care. Dr. Kongstvedt is also a key leader in the development of the firm's HIPAA-related services and products.

In addition to working with the firm's larger clients, Dr. Kongstvedt serves as a thought leader on managed care for the firm. He is the author of numerous articles for health care and consumer publications. He is the editor and primary author of The Managed Health Care Handbook, Fourth Edition, The Essentials of Managed Health Care, Fourth Edition, and co-edited with Dr. David Plocher, Best Practices in Medical Management.

Dr. Kongstvedt is also the primary researcher behind Ernst & Young's two groundbreaking studies of managed care operations, studies that have compiled over 1,000 measures of performance, including the detection of process correlations and the compilation of best operational practices.

Dr. Kongstvedt has 20 years of operational leadership and experience at the senior most levels in progressively larger managed care organizations. In these leadership roles, he has specialized in turning around troubled organizations, defining and achieving strategic goals, conceiving and executing new products, creating and installing new reimbursement methodologies, and developing innovative approaches to care management and health plan operations.
